So long Jorge. Timbers trade Perlaza for Danny Mwanga.
The Portland Timbers made a major move on Wednesday, sending forward Jorge Perlaza to the Philadelphia Union for forward Danny Mwanga.
Mwanga was in his third season in Philadelphia after being drafted #1 in the 2010 superdraft, having been a star at Oregon State University and also at Portland’s Jefferson High School. During his time in Philadelphia, Mwanga had twelve goals and nine assists.
Perlaza has been with the Timbers since March, 2011 and is most notable for scoring the first Timbers goal at JELD-WEN Field on April 14, 2011, in a 4-2 Timbers win over the Chicago Fire.
