It has been announced that Timbers head coach John Spencer has been fired and has been replaced by Timbers GM Gavin Wilkinson as interim coach until the end of the season while the team searches for a permanent replacement.
After big expectations at the beginning of the season, the Timbers have had a disappointing campaign, losing in the US Open Cup to Cal FC, am amateur team, and winless on the road since last year, and having been shut out five straight times on the road, the last two road losses being 3-0 results in Colorado and this past weekend in Salt Lake City.
