The Portland Timbers made their second round of roster moves this week, sending defender Mike Chabala to DC United for a 2014 first round Supplemental draft pick, while signing New Zealand international defender Ian Hogg.
Chabala had briefly been with the USL Timbers back in 2006 before re-joining the team in a July, 2011 trade from the Houston Dynamo. Chabala had two goals during his MLS time with the Timbers, his most memorable being the game opening goal last year in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Hogg is a native of Auckland, New Zealand and played in all the group stages for the New Zealand team at the recent London Olympics, after being a member of the New Zealand U-20 and U-23 teams previously.
