The Portland Timbers rallyed for a 3-1 win over Club Tijuana in the final Leagues Cup match for the Timbers this year.
In the 19th minute, Tijuana’s Alan Vega played a low cross from the left side that was knocked home by Mourad El Ghezouani, and the visitors had an early 1-0 lead.
But in the 40th minute, Portland’s Jimer Fory made a run down the left wing, then played a low cross across the goal mouth that Kevin Kelsy finished with his left foot, and the Timbers had tied the score at 1-1.
In the 64th minute, Kevin Kelsy collected a rebound at the post and played the ball back across the goal where Antony was open and finished easily to put the Timbers up 2-1.
Then 12 minutes later, Antony made a run into the box and played a right-footed pass past the Tijuana keeper that was tapped in by Ariel Lassiter, which gave the Timbers a 3-1 lead, which would be the final score.
The Timbers finished 7th in MLS group for the Leagues Cup with a 2-1 record, but do not advance.
