The last time the two teams faced each other was in Portland in 2010, where the Timbers dropped a 1-0 result.

So while we won’t get to see the Impact in Portland in 2012 (barring an unlikely playoff matchup), look back at a few of the entertaining matches these teams played in their USL days and look forward to resurrecting an intense rivalry with another of our former USL foes.

Home matches vs. Montreal Impact:

August 29, 2002: Timbers win 3-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mont082902.htm

June 30, 2005: Montreal wins 1-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon063005.htm

August 31, 2006: Montreal wins 1-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon083106.htm

June 21, 2007: Timbers-Montreal draw 1-1
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon062107.htm

August 16, 2008: Timbers win 2-1
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon081608.html

June 4, 2009: Timbers win 1-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon060409.htm

June 28, 2009: Timbers win 4-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon062809.htm

May 19, 2010: Montreal wins 1-0
http://timbers.soccercityusa.com/mon051910.htm

On Saturday in Montreal, the 2011 MLS expansion Timbers take on the 2012 MLS expansion Montreal Impact, but these are two teams that know each other very well.
