{"id":9105,"date":"2024-04-07T13:02:22","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T20:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pdxcite.net\/soccercityusa\/?p=9105"},"modified":"2024-04-07T13:02:22","modified_gmt":"2024-04-07T20:02:22","slug":"timbers-rally-from-three-goal-deficit-for-miracle-3-3-draw-in-kansas-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pdxcite.net\/soccercityusa\/2024\/04\/07\/timbers-rally-from-three-goal-deficit-for-miracle-3-3-draw-in-kansas-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Timbers rally from three goal deficit for miracle 3-3 draw in Kansas City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Portland Timbers would stage a miracle comeback from a 3-0 deficit, earning three second half goals and a 3-3 draw on the road with Sporting Kansas City.&nbsp; <span class=\"mw-page-title-main\"><strong>Evander<\/strong>, <strong>Felipe<\/strong> <strong>Mora<\/strong>, and <strong>Eric Miller<\/strong> would score for the Timbers, while <strong>Willy Agada<\/strong> scored twice for he hosts, with <strong>Daniel Rosero <\/strong>also scoring.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But it was two unfortunate deflections that would cost the Timbers in the 14th minute, with a pass being deflected by <strong>Cristhian Paredes<\/strong>, then a shot from the top of the box by <strong>Willy Agada<\/strong> deflected by <strong>Miguel Araujo<\/strong>, but the deflected shot was into the top left corner of the net past <strong>Maxime Cr\u00e9peau<\/strong>, and Sporting had a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>In the 38th minute, Sporting would double the lead, this time off a corner by <strong>Memo Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> when <strong>Daniel Rosero<\/strong> was left unmarked as he charged into the penalty area, and he would get to the ball just before Cr\u00e9peau, and the hosts lead was now 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>Sporting would add another goal in first half stoppage time, a long ball to <strong>Robert Voloder<\/strong> appeared to have Rosero also involved in the play in an offside position, and Voloder headed to Agada, who scored easily to make the score 3-0 at the break.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the 61st minute, Sporting were awarded a penalty on a foul by <strong>Claudio Bravo<\/strong> at the corner of the box, but Agada shot well wide left on the penalty attempt.<\/p>\n<p>Just a minute or so later, <strong>Felipe Mora<\/strong> was fouled in the box by <span class=\"mw-page-title-main\"><strong>Tim Leibold<\/strong>, with another penalty being awarded, this time to the Timbers.&nbsp; <strong>Evander<\/strong> took the kick, and scored easily with <strong>Tim Melia<\/strong> going the wrong way, and the Timbers had pulled a goal back and now trailed 3-1.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And just a few minutes later, the Timbers pulled another goal back when <strong>Jonathan Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>&#8216;s low cross found Mora, who one-timed the shot just over the line as Melia couldn&#8217;t keep the ball out, and suddenly the score was 3-2 Sporting.<\/p>\n<p>In the 77th minute the Timbers came within inches of tying the score when Rodr\u00edguez had a header attempt the was just inches past the post.<\/p>\n<p>Then in the 81st minute, the Timbers did tie it up, when a powerful header attempt from Paredes was saved by Melia, but the rebound fell to defender <strong>Eric Miller<\/strong>, who put his shot into the net for his first goal in his 11-year MLS career, and the score was level at 3-3.&nbsp; Both teams would have good chances late, but neither team would find the net again and the score after 10 minutes of stoppage time would end up in a 3-3 draw.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Portland Timbers would stage a miracle comeback from a 3-0 deficit, earning three second half goals and a 3-3 draw on the road with Sporting Kansas City.&nbsp; Evander, Felipe Mora, and Eric Miller would score for the Timbers, while Willy Agada scored twice for he hosts, with Daniel Rosero also scoring.
