{"id":9139,"date":"2024-04-13T19:01:26","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T02:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pdxcite.net\/soccercityusa\/?p=9139"},"modified":"2024-04-13T20:18:34","modified_gmt":"2024-04-14T03:18:34","slug":"timbers-lose-gk-to-red-card-but-hold-on-for-2-2-draw-vs-lafc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pdxcite.net\/soccercityusa\/2024\/04\/13\/timbers-lose-gk-to-red-card-but-hold-on-for-2-2-draw-vs-lafc\/","title":{"rendered":"Timbers lose GK to red card, but hold on for 2-2 draw vs. LAFC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Timbers would let two leads slip away against Los Angeles FC, but held on after playing almost an entire half down a player, and held on for a 2-2 draw.&nbsp; <strong>Felipe Mora<\/strong> and <strong>Evander<\/strong> scored for the Timbers, while <strong>Mateusz Bogusz<\/strong> scored twice for the visitors.<\/p>\n<p>In just the third minute, the Timbers had a great chance when <strong>Jonathan Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> found<strong> Antony<\/strong> open at the far post, but the one-timer shot attempt would go wide right.&nbsp; But in the 11th minute, the Timbers would be on the board when <strong>Evander<\/strong> chipped a brilliant pass&nbsp; into the run of <strong>Felipe Mora<\/strong>, who barely redirected the ball past LAFC goalkeeper <strong>Hugo Lloris<\/strong>, and the Timbers had a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>But in the 22nd minute, a Timbers defensive breakdown allowed <strong>Mateusz Bogusz<\/strong> to slip into the box largely unmarked, and he put a nice low shot past goalkeeper <strong>Maxime Cr\u00e9peau<\/strong> and just inside the right post, and the score was level at 1-1.<\/p>\n<p>In the 34th minute, the Timbers would re-take the lead, when <strong>Juan David Mosquera<\/strong> chipped a pass to Evander, who controlled it nicely in the box, and blasted a shot just under the bar past Lloris, and the Timber led again, by a 2-1 score.&nbsp; This would be the score at halftime.<\/p>\n<p>But just two minute into the second half, the tone of the match would change, when on an LAFC breakaway, Cr\u00e9peau was judged to have fouled <strong>Denis Bouanga<\/strong> just outside the box, and the referee showed a red card to the Timbers keeper.&nbsp; So the Timbers would have to play the rest of the match down a man and with <strong>James Pantemis<\/strong> in goal.&nbsp; LAFC had a free kick just outside the box that Bogusz put nicely inside the left post with Pantemis never moving, and LAFC had leveled the score at 2-2.<\/p>\n<p>LAFC would quickly have a chance to grab the lead in the 54th minute when Bouanga slipped a blast just wide left.&nbsp; In the 66th minute the Timbers came within inches of taking the lead when a free kick by Evander was off the crossbar.&nbsp; Two minutes later, an Evander corner kick was deflected towards goal by Rodr\u00edguez, and barely kept out by a nice save by Lloris.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Three minutes into seven minutes of added time, the visitors had their best chance to steal the win, when Bogusz slipped into the box and hit a tight-angle shot that Pantemis saved nicely, but the rebound fell in front of the goal, with <strong>Kei Kamara<\/strong> seeming to have an easy chance to finish into a mostly-empty net, but his attempt would slip just wide right.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timbers.com\/news\/recap-ten-man-timbers-battle-to-2-2-draw-against-lafc\">RECAP | Ten-man Timbers battle to 2-2 draw against LAFC&nbsp; <\/a>| Timbers website<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Timbers would let two leads slip away against Los Angeles FC, but held on after playing almost an entire half down a player, and held on for a 2-2 draw.&nbsp; Felipe Mora and Evander scored for the Timbers, while Mateusz Bogusz scored twice for the visitors.
