The Timbers put up an amazing comeback against visiting St. Louis City, getting a late shorthanded free kick goal to draw level for a 4-4 final.  Jonathan Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> had the Timbers first goal while Felipe Mora<\/strong> scored twice and Evander<\/strong> had the late equalizer..  Simon Becher<\/strong>, Eduard L\u00f6wen<\/strong>, Cedric Teuchert<\/strong>, and N\u00f6kkvi \u00de\u00f3risson<\/strong> scored for the visitors.<\/p>\n

In just the 11th minute, the visitors would take the lead on a Marcel Hartel<\/strong> corner kick that was headed home past Maxime Cr\u00e9peau<\/strong> by Simon Becher<\/strong>, and St. Louis had an early 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n

In the 35th minute the Timbers would make things more difficult when Miguel Araujo<\/strong> was called for a foul in the penalty area.  Eduard L\u00f6wen<\/strong> would take the penalty and put it perfectly into the upper left corner, and the score was now 2-0 St. Louis.  A few minutes later Santiago Moreno<\/strong> had a great chance from close-in but tapped the shot just wide right.  But seconds later, the Timbers did pull back a goal when Felipe Mora<\/strong> slotted a perfect pass across the front of the St. Louis goal and Jonathan Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> finished easily, and the score was now 2-1 St. Louis.<\/p>\n

But in first half stoppage time, the Timbers would fall victim to a St. Louis corner kick by Hartel, when a bouncing chance by Cedric Teuchert<\/strong> found it’s way past Cr\u00e9peau, and the visitors had restored their two-goal lead at 3-1.<\/p>\n

Seconds later the Timbers had a great chance to pull a goal back again but a chance by Mora after a fumble by St. Louis keeper Roman B\u00fcrki<\/strong> was blocked by Henry Kessler<\/strong> and was off the crossbar before rebounding away.   The score at the break was 3-1 St. Louis.

In the 57th minute, the Timbers pulled back within a goal when Claudio Bravo<\/strong> made a nice run down the left side, and crossed to Evander<\/strong>, who headed back in front of the net to Mora, who headed home from close-in, and it was now 3-2 City.<\/p>\n

But seconds later St. Louis was back in front by two goals when N\u00f6kkvi \u00de\u00f3risson<\/strong> curled in a perfect shot from the top of the Timbers box, and the score was 4-2 St. Louis now.<\/p>\n

But in the 64th minute, the Timbers got a goal back again when Evander made a shot from the top of the box that was saved by B\u00fcrki, but Mora jumped on the rebound and knocked it home, and the score was 4-3 St. Louis now.<\/p>\n

The Timbers through they had a late equalizer from Evander, but the play was correctly overruled by VAR for being offside.<\/p>\n

In stoppage time, things got much tougher for the Timbers when Mora was given a straight red when he tripped over a St. Louis player on the turf.<\/p>\n

But nine minutes into stoppage time, the Timbers did tie it up when Evander had a free kick chance from about 25 yards out, and he curled it in perfectly just inside the left post, and amazingly the score was level at 4-4.<\/p>\n

The Timbers continued to attack even though they were down a man but never found the equalizer, and the match ended level at 4-4.<\/p>\n
