Major League Soccer officially announced today that the 2020 MLS Season will continue starting on July 8 with all teams competing in a tournament in Orlando, Florida that will run until August 11, with the tournament winner (whether US or Canadan) earning a spot in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.
The Eastern Conference (plus the new club in Nashville, being moved to the East for the remainder of the 2020 season) will be divided into three groups, one containing six teams, and the other two containing four teams. The Western Conference will be broken into three groups of four teams each.
After each team plays three games in the group, there will be an elimination tournament of 16 teams with the final on August 11.
The team selections for each group will take place on June 11. See below for the official announcements from the MLS website.
