The 2021 Portland Timbers opened their preseason in Tucson, Arizona on Tuesday with two 45-minute matches, first against the Colorado Rapids, and then against Phoenix Rising FC.
In the opener, with former FC Dallas players Michael Barrios and Kellyn Acosta scoring the only goals.
In the second match, a play starting with Diego Valeri and Felipe Mora resulted in a shot deflecting high off a Phoenix defender and into the net, the only goal in a 1-0 Timbers win.
