Timbers fall to Austin by 4-1 score

The Timbers travelled to Austin, Texas to take on the 2021 MLS expansion team for the first time, and the result was not a good one as the Timbers did get a late first half goal to get within a single goal, but never threatened again and fell by a 4-1 score.

Jon Gallagher and Diego Fagundez scored early to give Austin a 2-0 lead, but the Timbers pulled within a goal in first half stoppage time on a goal by Jeremy Ebobise.

But the Timbers never found their form in the second half and goals by Alex Ring and Héctor Jiménez put the game away, as Austin scored their first home goals after two scoreless ties to open their new stadium, and also record their first home win, 4-1 over the Timbers.
