Timbers fall apart in 4-1 loss to LA Galaxy

The Portland Timbers travelled to Los Angeles for a Friday night match vs. the Galaxy. And after looking good for most of the first half, and feeling a bit unfortunate to be down 2-1 at the break, the Timbers had a poor second half and fell to the Galaxy by a 4-1 score.

The Timbers would go down a goal in the 27th minute on a spectacular bicycle kick goal by Rayan Raveloson.  But just a minute later, the Timbers would level it with a Jeremy Ebbobise goal to level the score at 1-1.

But it would only take five minutes for the Galaxy to re-take the lead with a Víctor Vázquez goal to make it 2-1.  The Timbers had a lot of good chances throughout the first half but could not convert again and the score was 2-1 at the half.

Then in the 53rd minute the Galaxy would be awarded a penalty kick on a foul by Steve Clark, and Sacha Kljestan converted straight down the middle to put the Galaxy up 3-1.  And just like many of the goals on the night, it didn’t take long for another goal to go on the board, as Samuel Grandsir put in an open header to put the Galaxy up by a 4-1 score, which would be the final.
