Timbers rally late for 1-1 draw at FC Dallas on Franck Boli goal

The Portland Timbers traveled to Dallas on Saturday, and got a stoppage time goal to earn a 1-1 draw.  New signee Franck Boli scored just minutes into his first appearance, while Facundo Quignon had the lone goal for the hosts.

The first great chance of the match would fall in the 30th minute, when Santiago Moreno had a great chance but the shot would hit both the crossbar and the right post before rebounding back out.  A few minutes later, Dallas had a great chance of their own with Geovane Jesus‘s header off a corner forcing a good save by Aljaž Ivačič.  Just a few minutes after this chance, Alan Velasco‘s blast from outside the box looked destined to slip inside the right post, but Ivačič just got a fingertip to the shot to knock it wide.  The score would be 0-0 at the break.

In the 62nd minute,  a shot by Velasco was again saved by a tip by Ivačič, this time deflecting it just over the crossbar.

But then, Facundo Quignon‘s goal would come in the 74th minute when the Timbers were unable to clear the ball after several Dallas chances, with Quignon finishing from about 10 yards out with a low shot that Ivačič would have no chance at.

Both teams would have a few good chances as the regulation 90 minutes expired, but neither team scored until second half stoppage time, when forward Franck Boli, about five minutes into his Timbers debut, made a strong statement when he stuck a hard low shot from the stop of the box that slipped just inside the left post, and the score was level at 1-1, which would be the final score.
