Timbers and Earthquakes play to 0-0 draw

The Timbers traveled to San Jose to take on the Earthquakes, and while both teams hit the woodwork, neither team was able to score in a 0-0 final.

The Quakes would have the best chance of the half when not long before halftime, San Jose earned a free kick just outside the Timbers box. Former Timber Jeremy Ebobise took the kick, and smashed a rocket off the crossbar, but the score remained at 0-0 at the break.

Early in the second half the Timbers had a great chance on counterattack, with Evander getting a great chance on a headed from close-in after a cross from Franck Boli, but the chance was saved by Quakes goalkeeper Daniel.

In the 67th minute, the hosts once again came within inches of taking the lead when Tommy Thompson‘s chance was off the right post, and David Bingham made a nice save on a rebound chance.

In second half stoppage time, it was the Timbers’ turn to kiss the woodwork, as Dairon Asprilla turned nicely to side-volley a shot that had Daniel flat-footed, but range off the right post.

But  neither team ever found the net on the night, with the Timbers earning their third straight shutout, a 0-0 draw with San Jose.
