Timbers fall in Houston by 1-0 score

The Timbers were in Houston on Saturday night to face the Dyanamo, and would fall short as Houston’s Ibrahim Aliyu had the only goal of the night for a 1-0 win by the hosts.

The Timbers would have the first good scoring chance in the 3rd minute, when a shot by Cristhian Paredes was saved then went off the crossbar.  In the 23rd minute, the hosts would have their first good scoring chance, when a shot by Ibrahim Aliyu from outside the Timbers box was off the left post.

But in the 43rd minute, the hosts would find the net when Adalberto Carrasquilla chipped a pass into the box towards Aliyu, and though Timbers defender Juan David Mosquera got a foot on the ball, he couldn’t control it and it spilled past goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, and Aliyu finished easily into an open net, and the score was 1-0 Dynamo.   This would be the score at halftime.

In the 49th mnute, Evander had a wonderful chance for Timbers when Dairon Asprilla‘s pass found him open near the penalty spot, but his shot was well over the crossbar.  The Timbers would have some good chances on wild scrambles in front of the net, and free kicks just outside the Houston box, but would never find the net and ended up on the short end of a 1-0 score.

Maxime Crépeau had three saves for the Timbers, while Steve Clark had three for Houston.
