Timbers reserves down Seattle 2-0 for first 2012 win

The Timbers reserves headed north to Tukwila, Washington on Tuesday to take on the Seattle reserves, their second road game to start the 2012 season.  A Seattle own goal and a Bright Dike goal were the winning margin as Brian Rowe got the shutout in goal.

The Timbers took an early lead when Seattle’s Jhn Kennedy Hurtato knocked the ball into his own net in the fourth minute off a long throw by Timbers forward Brent Richards.  The Timbers widened the margin to two goals in the 23rd minute when Bright Dike fought off a Seattle defender and blasted the shot past Seattle goalkeeper Andrew Weber for the 2-0 lead, which would be the final margin.

The Timbers reserves have their third road game to start the season next Sunday when they travel to Vancouver to take on the Whitecaps reserves at Swangard Stadium.
